Creating the Garden

I have lived in my house since January 1999. When I moved in the garden was mostly concrete with some large trees.
They were too large for such a tiny garden, it is only sixteen feet by twenty four, so I cut them down and dug up their roots.
I like trees and shrubs though, so I decided a layout and began work.

One weekend last year I went to the garden centre on my bike and brought home pond liner.
I had planned to leave it a week or so before digging out the pond and lining it, but the liner cost me forty quid, so I set to it then and there.

A few weeks later I added some plants and the pond began to come to life.

What gave me greatest satisfaction the day I made the pond was looking out from my kitchen later to see the sky reflected on the water. It added a whole new dimension to the garden.

Since then I have put Yorkshire frogs in the pond and at least one survives.

In spring and summer, and on warm days in the autumn, I like to sit outside for my breakfast or just to relax.
